Fulminic acid is a quasi-linear molecule close to the linear limit. The lines were taken from
(1) M. Winnewisser and B. P. Winnewisser, 1971, Z. Naturfosch. 26a, 128.
The predictions are reliable up to about 800 GHz. Contributions of excited vibrational states to the partition function can be neglected up to about 50 K.
14N hyperfine splitting may be resolved for low values of J. Therefore, a separate hyperfine calculation is provided for J' ≤ 3 and frequencies below 69 GHz. The quadrupole coupling parameter was taken from
(2) W. Hüttner, H. K. Bodenseh, P. Nowicki, K. Morgenstern, 1978, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 71, 246.
NOTE: The partition function does not take into account the spin multiplicity gI = 3 of the 14N nucleus !
The dipole moment was reported by
(3) R. Takashi, K. Tanaka, and T. Tanaka, 1989, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 138, 450.
