The HC5S radical is a linear molecule. Transitions with small quantum numbers were reported by
(1) V. D. Gordon, M. C. McCarthy, A. J. Apponi, and P. Thaddeus, 2002, Astrophys. J. Suppl. Ser. 138, 297.
The spectroscopic parameters are slightly different from those in (1).
The predictions of the lower 2Π1/2 spin component should be sufficiently accurate for the detection of the molecule in the cold ISM; caution is advised for predicted frequencies above 60 GHz. Predictions of the higher 2Π3/2 spin component should be viewed with great caution throughout.
The dipole moment was estimated.
