The observed transition frequencies were taken from
(1) A. J. Apponi, M. C. McCarthy, C. A. Gottlieb, and P. Thaddeus, 2000,Astrophys. J. 530, 357.
The calculated value for the dipole moment was taken from
(2) S. A. Maluendes and A. D. McLean, 1992, Chem. Phys. Lett. 200, 511.
The calculations were truncated at 52 GHz and Ka = 2. They are probably sufficient for observations in cold environments. Transitions with Ka = 2 should be viewed with some caution, as should be those above 27 GHz.
At low temperatures, it may be necessary to discern between ortho-l-C8H2 and para-l-C8H2. The ortho states are described by Ka odd, the para states by Ka even. The nuclear spin-weights are 3 and 1 for ortho-l-C7H2 and para-l-C7H2, respectively. The JKaKc = 111 is the lowest ortho state. It is approximately 8.98 cm–1 above ground.
