===== Detection of Protonated HC₇N in the ISM ===== C. Cabezas, M. Agúndez, N. Marcelino, B. Tercero, R. Fuentetaja, P. de Vicente, and J. Cernicharo,\\ reported on the\\ **[[https://doi.org/10.1051/0004-6361/202142972|Discovery of a new molecular ion, HC₇NH⁺, in TMC-1]]**\\ //Astron Astrophys.// **659**, Art. No. L8 (2022).\\ Nine transitions, from //J"// = 28 to 36 between about 32.1 and 41.0 GHz, of a new, unknown molecule were detected in the course of a molecular line survey of the prototypical cold dark molecular cloud TMC-1 carried out with the Yebes 40 m radio telescope. Quantum-chemical calculations yielded HC₇NH⁺ as the most likely carrier of these lines. The abundance ratio of HC₇N to HC₇NH⁺ is ~350, somewhat higher than those of HC₅N to HC₅NH⁺ and HC₃N to HC₃NH⁺, of ~240 and ~230, respectively, which can be seen as additional support for the identification.\\ ---- Contributor(s): H.
