Ethnylbutatrienylidene was detected through 27 a-type transitions with Ka ≤ 2 and 9 ≤ J ≤ 15 and good to reasonable signal-to-noise ratios in the course of a molecular line survey of the prototypical cold dark molecular cloud TMC-1 carried out with the Yebes 40 m radio telescope between 31.0 and 50.3 GHz. Ethnylbutatrienylidene is, after hexapentaenylidene, C6H2, and triacetlylene, the third C6H2 isomer detected in space. Its abundance is about a factor of 1.6 higher than that of the slightly lower lying C6H2 molecule.
