Detection of Hydroxyacetone in Protostar IRAS 16293–2422 B

The detection was made employing the ALMA Band 4 Science Verification data of IRAS 16293–2422 around 146 and 157 GHz. The number of unblended to moderately blended lines appears to be sufficient.

also report the detection of hydroxypropanone, also known as hydroxyacetone, in the course of a molecular line survey of this cold, shocked molecular cloud near Sagittarius B2 and in the Galactic center region. Several transitions with good signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) between 32 and 102 GHz were (essentially) unblended. The authors provide column density raios of the C3H6O2 isomers.
