Rotational Spectrum and First Interstellar Detection of 2-methoxyethanol Using ALMA Observations of NGC6334I
Astrophys. J. Lett. 965, Art. No. L23 (2024).
Methoxyethanol, CH3OCH2CH2OH, was detected toward the high mass star-forming region NGC 6334I in archival ALMA Band 4 data around 131 and around 145 GHz. An excitation temperature of ~140 K was derived with a methoxymethanol to methoxyethanol ratio of ~30. The molecules was not detected in archival Band 7 data of IRAS 16293−2422B with a lower limt of this ratio of > 56.
